Restorative Breathwork® Facilitator Certificate

Requirements for Receiving a Facilitator Certificate

To receive a Restorative Breathwork Facilitator Certificate, students must successfully complete the Restorative Breathwork Facilitator Training and Practicum as well as pass the certificate exam.


Training Structure

The Facilitator Certificate Training is centered around a mentored practicum structured to provide in-depth professional training and hands-on supervision and support. It is a 100-hour program combining a live in-person event with online training and a 50-hour practicum. Our online learning platform is comprised of instructional videos and guided breathwork audios.Facebook live Q & A 's and video conferencing mentor sessions provide direct contact with Kathleen Barratt and faculty. Emphasis is on creating an experiential framework for learning how to facilitate Restorative Breathwork sequences that are tailored to meet individual needs and differences. Upon successful completion of their practicum, students are eligible to take the Restorative Breathwork Facilitator Certificate Exam. Students have access to a private facebook community and a discussion forum to provide support and connection with staff and fellow students.

Note: Students are required to participate in the practicum during the course of the training. Extensions are available for those who do not finish their practicums by the end of the course.

Requirements for Enrollment

This program requires a time commitment of four to five hours per week for study and practice. To apply for this training, all applicants must fill out an application form, submit letters of reference, and participate in a one-on-one interview with Kathleen Barratt.


Training Overview

This training is for those who want to acquire a deeper understanding and skill of the transformative practices of Restorative Breathwork. Building on skills developed in our Foundations training, students are introduced to new breathwork sequences designed to unleash the breath's vast potential to foster transpersonal dimensions of healing. Emphasis is on refining and expanding student's skills in facilitating the breath to attend to energy flow and allow it to move more freely. This can have transformative effects on consciousness as well as physical health and well-being. Practice and experience are key in this training. A consistent personal breath practice is highly encouraged during the course of the practicum/mentorship, so students will gain an embodied experience of the work. A rich personal practice becomes an invaluable resource in developing skills in guiding others into deeply healing, restorative and transformative experiences.

  • Facilitating a progressive series of Restorative Breathwork sessions 1:1 and in small groups
  • Creating music playlists for Restorative Breathwork
  • The five prana vayus and their intimate relationship to the breath
  • Bringing into play the relationship between breath and energy flow
  • Interpreting and facilitating the subtle directives of the innate breath
  • Facilitating the Edge, a doorway to deep inner transformation
  • The art and mastery of guiding others into a deeply meditative state
  • Expanding language skills
  • Refining skills in working with scripts
  • Tailoring breath sessions to address individual needs and differences
  • Safeguards and integration techniques

Training Requirements:

  • Practicum of 40 documented individual sessions and 10 small group sessions
  • Attendance and participation at the live in-person event
  • Receiving 10 one-on-one breath sessions with a certified Restorative Breathwork Facilitator
  • Individual mentor sessions with an assigned mentor via phone or Zoom
  • Practice sessions with peers
  • Maintaining a personal practice journal
  • Selected reading assignments
  • Attendance at live, online group-mentoring/Q&A sessions
  • Two open-book essay exams
  • Submission of eight videos of practicum sessions assigned by Kathleen

Certificate of Completion: Upon Successful completion of this program, students receive a Certificate of Completion. Students who receive this certificate are eligible to take the Restorative Breathwork Facilitator Certificate Exam.



Restorative Breathwork Facilitator Certificate Exam

Upon successful completion of the Facilitator Certificate Training, students are eligible to take the Restorative Breathwork Facilitator Certificate Exam. It is both a written and performance exam. Students are required to submit two final videos. These videos are to be submitted upon completion of the practicum, demonstrating skills in facilitating and teaching a progressive series of Restorative Breathwork private sessions and classes. Primary testing is through the evaluations of these videos as well as a demonstration of skills during live breathwork sessions under the direct supervision of Kathleen Barratt. This performance exam is structured to meet the individual aspects of the student's apprenticeship, featuring diverse case studies. Students who successfully complete all of the above requirements receive a Restorative Breathwork Facilitator Certificate. Graduates with this certificate may use the description of "Restorative Breathwork® Facilitator" in all advertising and promotional materials.

Faciitator Certificate Extensions

Barratt Breath Institute recognizes its responsibility for maintaining high standards in teaching breathwork facilitation. Facilitator certificates are awarded on the basis of comprehension and skills in facilitating Restorative Breathwork. Any students not eligible for this certificate upon completion of the training will be given the opportunity to apply for an extension. Extensions are individually based and are designed to fulfill the requirements needed to receive a Restorative Breathwork Facilitator Certificate.
